Description of Tasks: 

The person in this role will help implement DEI best practices to help DSS foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment through strategic initiatives and collaboration with agency leadership to incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion throughout workplace and workforce, while creating learning and professional development opportunities and encouraging our employees to embrace differences in age, gender, disability, race, language, religion, sexual orientation and all the other characteristics that make us all unique.

This position will provide the opportunity to play an important role, helping inform the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to support DSS’ equity and inclusion strategy, promote awareness of DEI initiatives, partner with agency leadership to help incorporate our DEI mission into all of our programs and developing best  resources, guidance materials and toolkits.  The person in this position will also help create messaging and content that reinforces the agencies commitment to DEI.

The member in this position will play an important role in supporting the Office of the Chief People, Equity and Inclusion providing technical by carrying out projects designed to advance the agency’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategic Plan. The member will provide technical assistance and subject matter expertise on matters relating to DEI, training and recruitment. 

Detailed Tasks: 

  • Assisting with the preparation of presentations for key agency stakeholders  

  • Conduct research on DEI best practices, MWBE  suppliers, DEI trainings and workshops

  • Support the agency’s MWBE initiatives 

  • Assist with the development of gender and racial equity and inclusion programming  

  • Assisting with the collection and analysis of DEI metrics established by the Office of Equity and Inclusion

  • Assisting with the implementation and facilitation of DEI trainings 

  • Assembling content to update the agencies DEI webpage 

  • Assist with efforts to enhance recruitment efforts in order to attract a more diverse workforce 

Internship Details:

Number of Interns Requested: 1-2

Proposed Hours/Week: 15-20 hours/week

Desired Start Date - End Date: 1/15/2021 – 5/15/2021 (flexible)
