Position Description: Earthjustice has two openings at the SF office, including an Associate Attorney and Litigation Assistant position to work on environmental issues in the Bay and across California. The position is currently remote until at least January 2022.
Here's the text of our Associate Attorney position description (no links):
Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. We take on the biggest, most precedent-setting cases across the country. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health; to preserve magnificent places and wildlife; to advance clean energy; and to combat climate change. We partner with thousands of groups, supporters, individuals and communities to engage the critical environmental issues of our time, and bring about positive change. We are guided by a passionate, ambitious vision for the future for people and our planet: until justice stands for all, we will never rest. We are here because the earth needs a good lawyer.
Founded in 1971, Earthjustice has a distinguished track record of achieving significant, lasting environmental protections. We achieve this by hiring people who share a passion for justice and a healthy environment. Our headquarters are in San Francisco with offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Los Angeles, Tallahassee, Miami, Honolulu, New York, Philadelphia, Denver, Seattle, Bozeman, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
With staff in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles, Earthjustice’s California Regional Office fights for the rights of all to a healthy environment, including: protecting communities and public lands from oil development, safeguarding ocean and terrestrial ecosystems and imperiled species, advancing clean energy innovation, clearing the air in Los Angeles and the Central Valley, opposing hazardous fossil fuel transport, and fighting dangerous pesticide use. This position will entail a combination of litigation and advocacy work before administrative agencies.
The Associate Attorney position is a three-year position, with potential for extension. Many Associates have gone on to other positions within Earthjustice and with other public interest organizations.
The Associate Attorney position will be based out of San Francisco. The annual salary range for this role is $87,400 - $104,600.
